The Montgomery Selma District, Alabama River Region Conference is comprised of 27 churches, which includes Historic Brown Chapel AME Church (site of the “Bloody Sunday” March), Selma, AL, St. Paul AME Church (home church of Deaconess Rosa Parks), Montgomery, AL, St. John’s AME Church (located on Capitol Hill), Montgomery, AL, Campbell Chapel AME Church (home church of Bishop Frank C. Cummings), Minter, AL and twenty-two other outstanding churches.
November 2012, Bishop James L. Davis, appointed Rev. Dr. Jacquelyn L. Denson as a Presiding Elder in the 9th Episcopal District, and assigned her to the Camden District. On October 16, 2018, Bishop Harry L. Seawright, appointed Presiding Elder Denson as the first female Presiding Elder of the Montgomery Selma District, Alabama River Region Conference.
